The advantages of a customised journey

The advantages of a customised journey

We all have different traveling styles. Today I want to talk about the  advantages of a customised journey. Some of us like making our own way when we touch down in a new country while others enjoy exploring as part of a large group. Whether you prefer traveling independently or embarking on a guided tour, each form of travel will have its own benefits.

Group tours offer you the convenience of having someone else arrange your transport, accommodation, daily itinerary, and even your meals in advance, so you won’t have to spend countless hours researching your destination, comparing your options, and booking every part of your itinerary yourself. However, the downside of tour packages is that they may include attractions that you aren’t interested in, and you won’t have as much flexibility with accommodation or meal choices.

Maybe you like starting your day at 10 a.m. or you’re the type of person who stops to read every placard in a museum exhibit – group tours can sometimes have a breakneck pace as they rush on to the next item on the itinerary, so if that doesn’t sound appealing, the independent route can be the way to go. You’ll get to make your own hours and visit places that are off the beaten track. If you happen upon a beautiful lakeside village that you take a liking to, you can spend as long as you want there, taking in the scenery and meeting the locals.

Something to keep in mind with  is that independent travel (customised journey) can actually work out to be cheaper than a group tour. There’s always the chance that you’ll end up paying for an attraction that you aren’t too keen on as part of a package deal, which can really decrease the value of the tour.

Now that you’re ready for a customised journey, it’s time to begin planning out your itinerary. However, you don’t need to entirely forgo using an agent! As experienced consultants with specialised knowledge of the region you’ll be traveling to, travel agents offer many of the same services as a group tour such as helping you book accommodation and transport in advance, but the main difference is that they can customise the itinerary to your individual interests and personal style of traveling.

Whether you’re looking for a water sports adventure holiday in Bali or a luxury escape in Cambodia, a travel agent will be able to tailor the trip to your budget and even offer local recommendations that are less known to tourists. If you’re traveling to Vietnam, a must-see attraction is the Halong caves, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are many cruises that depart from Hanoi to Halong Bay to view the majestic limestone cliffs in the area, and a travel agent can help you narrow down the choices and find the most suitable cruise for your travel needs.
