It was constructed over a period of 30 years and illustrates some of the most beautiful examples of Khmer and Hindu art. In 1992 the Unesco World Heritage Committee declared the monument, and the whole city of Angkor, a World Heritage Site. Next visit Beng Mealea, a 12th century temple. The temple is currently being reclaimed from the jungle as years of conflict left it neglected and almost forgotten. Continue to Banteay Srei Temple, seemingly miniature in comparison to the other Angkor temples, it is considered to be the jewel of classical Khmer art. Built in pink sandstone, the walls are covered in exquisitely preserved carvings of unusual delicacy. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant to taste some authentic Khmer food. Finally end the day with an Ox cart riding at the local village. Travel by ox cart, an ancient mode of transport, and experiences the daily life of the local villagers.
