Sayaboury

Sayaboury, a northern Laotian town and capital of the eponymous province, remains best known for its main attraction, the Elephant Conservation Center.

Here they really care about the elephants and not the tourists.

The goal is to teach the elephant to be an elephant and not be some tourist attraction. The program’s approach is to follow and observe the elephants in their routine and their environment: the forest.

The elephants living there are learning to be real wild elephants, not captured elephants. Most of the activities were observing their behaviour but that was so much more fun!
