Yangon

Yangon, once Rangoon, was the capital of Myanmar until 2005. Today, with a population of over 5 million people, it remains the Yangon is the economic hub of Myanmar. It is also the largest city.

A mix of golden pagodas, colonial architecture. Get a glimpse of a city that seems trapped in time. Currently the most exciting place to be in Myanmar. Yangon is the most exotic of all Southeast Asian cities.

Shwedagon Paya, a golden pinnacle around which everything else revolves. The central landmark in Yangon is the awe inspiring Buddhist monument. The pagoda is the most sacred spot in the country, built to house eight hair relics of the Buddha.

Downtown Yangon is the place to go. With food and book vendors, open-air markets, temples, and impressive colonial architecture. An interesting selection of monuments and colonial buildings.
